Wireless
results are provided across the Energy Breakthrough site thanks to
TRANSURBAN. This technology produces race standings as vehicles
cross the line!
The only hardware required to get onto the data stream is a
Windows laptop with a wireless network card. (someone at your school is
likely to have one available for the weekend - Please Note: Wireless Results
are provided for Windows-based computers -
pre-VISTA)
The network allows teams and
spectators to monitor any vehicle's overall position, laps completed and
dissect performances according to fastest laps and the time for the last
lap just completed.
Race Monitor is the required
program and can be downloaded via this
link.
(728 kb .exe file)
Please note: If you installed this program for the 2006 or 2005 RACV EB -
you will not need to download it again.
Installing
this program on a laptop with wireless connectivity is all of the
software required to receive the wireless data and specific IP addresses
will be allocated at the Administration Centre during registration.
The
network will be publicly available and unencrypted for all users
to connect to.
Should you require assistance with this,
please ask a timing representative during the weekend.
This program typically installs in the C drive:
Program Files folder which makes it easier to delete after the event and
less likely to affect other programs running on your machine. You may install this software to any location you wish. Note that the
installation package does NOT install files to any other location other
than the one you select - that is NO FILES are placed in any Windows
directory.
Program Instructions:
Once you have run it for the first time, to view the results you need to
do the following:
1. Ensure that your laptop has been able to establish a wireless
connection to our network.
The connections names will be 'racveb' with
a number, depending on your location.
WEP and WPA are disabled for these meetings on our access points.
Please check instructions handed out at registration - if any change is
made to the ssid on either track these instructions will advise you of
the required ssid name.
2.
Under Settings | Communication, select the 'TCP/IP' radio button.
You
will need to connect to the IP of the computer which will be advised
in the instructions handed out at registration.
The computer name will
also depend on which track you wish to receive live results from.
Leave the port setting at 50000.
3.
To view the practice times and results, select:
File | 'New result window' | 'Practice results'.
4.
This should be sufficient information to get you up and running.
If you
have any major dramas with this, see a timing official during the event.
Final results will also be available from
this
website after the event.
