Maryborough Velodrome (Pyrennes Hwy, Maryborough) with upright bicycles racing
recumbents.
Racing starts at 8am with a social ride rolling out from 9am. $10
entry fee with a sausage sizzle and the Maryborough HPV Enthusiasts' AGM to

The Wonthaggi event typically
sees teams battling the elements and the technical 1.4 km circuit in the first
event of the year.
This 24-hour
event was first held in 1999 and is open to Primary, Secondary and Community teams. Specifications are typically similar to the Energy
Breakthrough specifications from the year before.

which will see HPVs race pursuit-style around a velodrome to find the quickest
rider! Held during the Bendigo International Madison Carnival, the event will
provide a new spectacle to the already colourful weekend of racing.

DECA Hybrid MOTOR-vation

Racing will start at around 9.00. Gates open at 8am. This event is designed to motivate and
encourage more teams to take up the hybrid challenge. More a testing session than a race, the DECA Hybrid MOTOR-vation hopes to
excite present a relaxed environment for teams to discuss ideas and
innovations and make life easier for hybrid teams across the board.

An opportunity to speak and meet with other HPV enthusiasts at
the Wodonga Go Kart track and a nearby open road course.
Feature events include a flying 200metres
and a 1,000metre time trial.
The track and road should provide participants with a challenging and
enjoyable weekend of HPV racing.
Racing commences from 1:00pm Saturday 5th April. Track located at
Sheather's Road Wodonga (approx 2km West from Wodonga City)

The RACT Insurance Challenge is a school and
community event organized by Rosny College The event is proudly
sponsored by the Tasmanian Deptartment of Education, RACT Insurance,
Events Tasmania, Sullivan Cove Authority and the Hobart City Council.
In April 2007, 20 teams participated
including eight from the mainland. In 200, organisers expect thirty
teams to be racing across the five divisions:
Class A: Secondary (Years 7 to 10) 6-8 riders with equal gender
ratio
Class B: Senior Secondary (Years 11 to 12) 4-8 riders with
equal gender ratio
Class C: Open Secondary 4-8 riders (any gender mix)
Class D: Tertiary Students/Community Open 1-8 riders (any gender
mix)
Class E: Upper Primary Students Unlimited number of riders, any
gender mix

The Casey-Cardinia HPV and Cycling Club held their
first event in June, 2005 with great success. Events over the weekend include a
road cycling time trial, a mountain bike race, and primary and secondary human
powered vehicle events. Construction of a closed criterium circuit for road
cycling and HPV practice and racing began in early November 2005. The Club will
enjoy access to Casey Fields Criterium circuit for events, training and testing
and will be encouraging others to book for track time. For more information, contact

Vehicle Efficiency
Test Day (Victoria) |

An exciting day of learning and vehicle
testing at RMIT University's Bundoora campus. The full scale wind tunnel
is in action non-stop as hpvs and hybrids are tested for drag and aero
improvements are discussed.
A manoeuvrability test sees how the
vehicles handle, a rolling resistance test explores a key area of
efficiency and all vehicles are weighed to determine their mass.

This is an entry level event with a track that is appealing to beginners and is also open to community teams. It offers new participants HPV race experience in a relaxed atmosphere whilst allowing other teams to tune and test their vehicles for Maryborough.
Organisers suggest there is some growth left in the pushcart event.

Human powered vehicles, Australia’s first miniature solar trains, solar boats and cars, CO2 dragsters and even a miniature F1-11 rocket powered by carbon dioxide are all part of the Holden Maryborough Technology Challenge. The HPV teams race around a 1.4 km street circuit which also hosts a road cycling criterium
during the weekend.

The Australian International Pedal Prix is Australia’s largest
HPV event and began 23 years ago. The three event Australian HPV Super Series
features two 6hr rounds and a 24 hr final round. There are no compulsory Display and Presentation or Design and Construction elements, although these are voluntary at the
third event of the series.

Herald Sun Tour is capped with a 2 hr HPV demonstration around the city
streets.
A great success in 2006 & 2007, this demo
is expected to happen again this year.

The RACV Energy Breakthrough began
in 1991 and is a joint initiative of the County Education
Project, The RACV and the Central Goldfields Shire Council. It
encourages an across-the-curriculum approach to improving the
environment and transport through the
judging of Display &
Presentation and Design & Construction. Categories include:
Pushcarts,
Human Powered Vehicles,
Innovations in Technology,
Hybrid Powered Vehicles and a three-event HPV race called the
Try-athlon.
