Transurban Test Day Information

HPV Demo Information


Date: Saturday October 20, 2007
Time: 9.00am – 4.00pm
Sessions:
9.00am - 12noon (AM Session) /  1.00pm - 4.00pm (PM Session)

Venue: RMIT University Bundoora East Campus (Melways Map 10 : B6)
Purpose: “To assess the efficiency of vehicles under various operating conditions.”
Classes:
- HPV
- Hybrid – Fossil Fuel
(as per RACV Energy Breakthrough requirements)
- Hybrid - Electric
(as per RACV Energy Breakthrough requirements)

Assessments:
The TRANSURBAN Vehicle Efficiency assessment will involve each vehicle being presented for the following tests:
1. Aerodynamics test in RMIT University wind tunnel
2. Rolling Resistance test on site at RMIT University
3. Mass (weight) test on site at RMIT University
4. Manoeuvrability Trial on site at RMIT University.


Points will be awarded for each test.
These points will be tallied to determine the “Most Efficient Vehicles”.

Students will also have the opportunity on the day to participate in a tour of the RMIT Mechanical Engineering workshop, view their Formula SAE vehicles and attend seminar on vehicle efficiency.

Who Can Enter?
Teams that have entered the RACV Energy Breakthrough can enter the TRANSURBAN Vehicle Efficiency Test.
Teams can express an interest in either the AM or PM session at RMIT University.
9.00am -12noon (AM Session) or 1.00pm - 4.00pm (PM Session)
