With under a fortnight before entries close for the 2010 Casey Cycling Festival, we caught up with one of the chief organisers, Andrew Lardner, to see how it's all coming together...

Nigel Preston, RACV EB: Andrew, what's new for this year's Festival?
Andrew: This year we are only using two of the three loops (Loops A and B). We had feedback that some of the riders were finding the racing (on the full track) a bit boring and others have said they needed more of a challenge.
We decided to restrict the racing to the two loops as it allows for a complete U-turn. This will challenge the riders to ensure they take the right line to get around the corner without crashing!
 
RACV EB: What's one thing teams should bring to the track on race day?
Andrew: Well, there's a few! Plenty of tyres, clothing for all weather and lots to drink!
We are predicting that tyre wear for some teams may increase due to the new U-turn and you can always expect Melbourne weather to play games with you! (especially the wind at Casey Fields!)
 
RACV EB: What do you enjoy the most about hosting the Casey Cycling Festival?
Andrew: The fact that the event is great for schools to ease into their HPV program for the year, and that it provides Open teams with another opportunity to compete on our purpose built venue. We try and provide a laid-back atmosphere where people can go out and have fun (within the rules of course!). 
That’s the best part, watching competitors ride past with a smile on their face.
 
RACV EB: If people aren't racing, do you need any additional volunteers?

Will TruBlu (above) be able to defend their title?
