In what seems to be a recurring theme in HPV racing recently, stormy weather interfered with the final stages of the 2010 Bendigo Bank & Cartridge World HPV Challenge.

Bendigo Bank Madison Event - 2010Despite the stormy weather, one enjoyable day of racing was again held as part of the Bendigo International Madison. Ten schools and two community teams from Bendigo and surrounds, with 16 vehicles and 44 riders made up the largest field ever assembled for this alternative HPV event.

Madison Assembly - 2010
The increased number of schools and riders within each class made for some very strong competition as riders endeavoured to achieve a fast time for the standing 6 lap pursuit style race.

Results

MadisonWeeroona’s previous stranglehold on the school’s classes was finally broken by schools new to the event.
Crusoe’s Sam O’Dea turned in the fastest time of the day for secondary boys, Highview’s Mari Chaffey-Jones was the Secondary Girl’s winner whilst Lockwood Primary School’s Joshua Powell won the Junior section in record time, the only record to be broken on the day.
Jordan Lucas, riding for Ex-Pats, turned in the second fastest time ever recorded to win the community section.

Storms stop Finals from going ahead

Unfortunately the storms which swept across Victoria over the weekend prevented the running of the finals and we did not get to perform in front of the expected large crowd. Final results were taken from the times achieved in the Saturday heats.

Whilst the timing of this event between the Casey and Wonthaggi HPV events makes it difficult for some to attend, this year’s much larger field and stronger competition made it a most worthwhile event and left us all looking forward to next year.

Sincere thanks are extended to the Bendigo Bank and Cartridge World for sponsoring the event and to all the helpers who put in to make the event work.
