How the race unfolded

With drizzling rain and a damp track causing some slight problems for some teams, window fogging was the major problem for the leaders.

The fastest lap of the race was completed by Tru Blu with a 1min 22.7 on the first lap.

Tru Blu then had a couple of rollovers, which gave Trisled in their new vehicle for 2010: “Aquila” were a slight advantage over the rest of the field.

As the day and the race progressed it was clear that the race was between the two Victorian teams: Tru Blu and Trisled Fresh Racing.

The lead of the race never extended beyond two laps at any point for either team and with every pit change now vital the pressure was now on the teams to make sure that they were quick and efficient to get the vehicles back on the road. These pit stops however was where most of the lead swapping was done.

There was added pressure as a slip up would have seen either team fall into the hands of challenges coming from Deakin Uni’s Team Phantom and 2008 Series Champs Tafe SA BlueShift.

Although the Adelaide hills were barely visible through the mist, the rain stayed away with very light drizzle sweeping over the track.

The speeds at the end of the main straight were something to be seen. The downhill section combined with a tail wind was pushing the riders to speeds of 60 km/h at the first corner. The nature of the circuit then allows the riders to carry the speed throughout the rest of the lap.

The racing in the last 2 hours between Tru Blu and Trisled was fantastic with the two nose to tail lap after lap. However Tru Blu were able to gain a slight advantage over the rest of the field.

Team Phantom were making a late charge for the line when the got into 2nd overall, however a crash on the start/finish line meant that Trisled regained their 2nd position.

Line Honours:
Line honours would go to Tru Blu (228 laps) who were able to get a 2 lap break over Trisled (226 laps) and Phantom (225Laps) in 3rd. BlueShift (218 Laps) in 4th and quite achievers who were hardly scene all day “Wet whistle” from Expats (209 Laps) in 5th.
Congratulations to the boys from Tru Blu and all the other Category winners for a fantastic wins in difficult conditions.

Results:

Category 1 was won by “Computer Screamer” from Aberfoyle Park Primary School Campus (161 Laps).
2nd was “Fire” from Immanuel College (143 laps) and 3rd was “Airbourne” from Westbourne Park Primary also on 143 laps.
This was a very tight category with some fantastic racing.

Category 2 was won by “Ice” from Immanuel College(185 Laps). In 2nd was “Blur 2” from Loxton High School (174 Laps)

Category 3 was one by “Vortex Ultimo” from Heathfield High School (182 laps).
They were also 2 lap winners from “Powered by Sarcasm” from Mount Barker High School (180 laps).

Tru Blu Racing - Tru Blu (228 laps)
Trisled-Fresh Racing - Aquilla (226)
Deakin Uni – Team Phantom (225)
TAFESA – BlueShift (218)
ExPats – Wet Whistle (209)
