The RACV Energy Breakthrough is reliant on the generous support of the following sponsors for success. The Energy Breakthrough has been supported loyally by a number of organisations for many years - some since the very first event in 1991. This exciting event attracts over 3,000 students and participants and 10,000 spectators over 4 days - to enquire about sponsorship opportunities contact the Planning Committee today.
Royal Automobile Club of Victoria:
In 1991, the RACV was approached to support a new, innovative event where young people were actively encouraged to create environmentally and energy efficient vehicles - a subject close to the RACV's heart.

After a successful debut, the following year the RACV signed on as principle sponsors and the event became the RACV Energy Breakthrough. Every year since, RACV Officials have supervised on-track action, formulated the safety and design specifications for the vehicles and been responsible for vehicle scrutineering.

The RACV has provided roadside assistance to motorists since 1903 and to Energy Breakthrough participants since 1991, but also offers traffic safety education in schools, insurance, financial services, vehicle inspections and vehicle buying advice. They are focused on ensuring optimum environmental and safety standards in vehicles and improving driver training; because traffic safety education, better roads and better cars save lives.

Country Education Project
The CEP initiated the event in 1991, as they discovered the need for an all-round educational event which challenged young people in Math, Science, Technology and English, as well as Physical Education.

The CEP is a leading voice for country areas on educational issues, focusing on the retention and recruitment of quality teachers, post compulsory learning, small rural schools and innovative programs & communication.

The CEP continues to support the Energy Breakthrough financially and through Event Co-ordinator John Stafford and co-ordinate a number of educational initiatives for students and staff throughout regional Victoria.

Department of Education & Training
The Department of Education and Training has supported the Energy Breakthrough both financially and through personnel since its inception in 1991. It's vision is to provide high-quality education and training that raises achievement, reduces disparity and leads to opportunity - the Energy Breakthrough is an excellent initiative which promotes all of these goals.

The Department of Education is also closely linked to the Office for Youth, which runs a range of programs and  coordinates research and policy development on youth issues. The Office for Youth covers:
Advance - promoting active citizenship by encouraging young people to work with community organisations,
Regional Youth Affairs Networks - providing regional advice on policy, planning and service provision issues relating to young people;
Freeza – assisting young people to implement cultural events according to local need.

Transurban

Transurban joined the RACV Energy Breakthrough in 2006, with support focused upon improving the timing and display of results at the event, and other Victorian HPV events.

Transurban is a $6 billion company with more than 10 years experience in the development, ownership and management of complex toll road infrastructure.

Transurban is listed on the Australian Stock Exchange, where it is ranked within the Top 50 companies. In September 2006, Transurban was added to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World list of high performing companies.

Their involvement in the Breakthrough highlights and desire to support community events and encourage sustainable transport practices.

Holden
Holden means a great deal to the RACV Energy Breakthrough, with an entire circuit now bearing their name and their continued commitment to efficient transport and the environment.

At the first event in 1991, they supplied a Holden engine to the winner of the Hybrid category - a worthy prize for a 24 hour challenge. More recently, the team at Holden now select from the Hybrid entrants participating throughout the weekend for a suitable recipient of the Holden Secondary Encouragement Award. In 2001, the opportunity arose to become a major sponsor of the event and support the second circuit - now named the 'Holden Track'.

Holden created an environmental breakthrough of their own when they joined forces with CSIRO to design and develop the 'ECOmmodore'. The development team met head on the challenges facing each and every Energy Breakthrough teams as they focused upon reducing energy wastage, lightweight materials, slippery aerodynamics, reducing rolling resistance, performance efficiency regenerative braking and solar cooling.

Holden also continues to offer student and undergraduate employment opportunities to young people ranging from engineering to sales and marketing. For more information on the ECOmmodore and employment opportunities, head to the Holden website (www.holden.com.au).

Central Goldfields Shire Council
Hosts to the event for more than the four days of the event, the CGSC goes above and beyond the call of duty throughout every year to ensure its success and smooth operation.

The council has completed significant works and improved facilities throughout the Breakthrough site and Maryborough to ensure a pleasant and enjoyable experience for both participants and visitors.

Central Highlands Water
Central Highlands Water is committed to the preservation of the environment; developing new and innovative ways to conserve water and educating young people about being water-wise.

Through their sponsorship of the Innovations in Technology category at the Breakthrough and provision of safe drinking water during the event, Central Highlands Water is providing hands-on learning opportunities to young people about earth's most precious resource.

Powercor Australia
Powercor is highly aware of its environmental responsibilities and obligations. The company is committed to the principles of sustainable development and managing the business in an environmentally responsible manner.

Powercor is sponsoring the Try-athlon category at the Energy Breakthrough - an event which requires a diverse management of energy across a range of disciplines.

KFC

KFC have supported a pedestrian bridge at the RACV Energy Breakthrough to improve the flow of foot traffic around the Holden circuit.

In the past, teams en route to the repair station were struggling to carry their vehicles across a narrow bridge alongside the toilet block and spectators were restricted in access to various parts of the circuit.
Now, thanks to KFC, regardless of what event is taking place on the circuit, teams and spectators are able to cross the creek quickly and easily to find new vantage points.

KFC Maryborough enjoys its highest sales during the Breakthrough each year and is located at the traffic lights at the junction of Tuaggra St and Park Road. KFC's support covers the cost of purchasing, painting and modification of the container to allow people to walk through. The Breakthrough is very grateful for their support.

Bendigo IT
After supporting the Maryborough Technology Challenge in Queensland, Bendigo IT attended the 2004 Energy Breakthrough as spectators to see what all the fuss was about.
In December 2004, Bendigo IT designed and hosted the website for the Commonwealth Youth Games held in Bendigo and after seeing first hand the Energy Breakthrough, the central Victorian IT product & service provider keenly offered to redesign and host the event's website.
Telstra CountryWide

Telstra Country Wide are committed to supporting region and rural Australia. They have been behind the RACV Energy Breakthrough in the form of mobile phones for both prizes and admin use for many years.
Their reach also connects the EB site to the wider world through the internet cafe in the Admin Centre, which is free for all participants to use - to check the weather, email home or find that extra piece of info they were after. The two stages also use Telstra Country Wide phones to receive SMS requests and competition entries during the event.

Telstra Country Wide have 103 mobile base stations across Central Victoria, which are progressively being converted to the one technological standard. Once national Next G™ Network is fully deployed, people will be able to have fast data and internet access, new features such as video calling, and enhanced content, wherever there is mobile coverage.
