Casey-Bass Coast HPV Series - Round 1 (Victoria)

The Casey Cardinia HPV & Cycling Club are excited to introduce the inaugural Casey-Bass Coast HPV Series for 2011. This will be held in conjunction with the Wonthaggi Human Powered Grand Prix 24-hour event.

The series will feature three rounds:
Round 1
:: 6-hour at Casey Fields on February 26
Round 2 :: 24-hours in Wonthaggi on March 18-20
Round 3
:: 6-hour at Casey Fields on May 14

Each race will be conducted as a separate event, but points will be allocated across all three with a Series trophy awarded at the end of the final round in May at Casey Fields.

Bendigo Bank Cartridge World HPV Challenge (Victoria)

Held on the Tom Flood Velodrome as part of the Bendigo International Madison Carnival, this event is a real test of speed on a super fast track with finals in front of a capacity crowd on the Sunday night.

The Wonthaggi event typically sees teams battling the elements and the technical 1.4 km circuit in the first event of the year.

This 24-hour event was first held in 1999 and is open to Primary, Secondary and Community teams.
Specifications are typically similar to the Energy Breakthrough specifications from the year before.

Primary students are also involved in a series of pushcart races on the Friday.

This event is the second round of the Casey-Bass Coast HPV Series.

Wonthaggi

DECA Hybrid MOTOR-vation (Victoria)

This event is designed to motivate and encourage more teams to take up the hybrid challenge.

More a testing session than a race, the DECA Hybrid MOTOR-vation hopes to excite present a relaxed environment for teams to discuss ideas and innovations and make life easier for hybrid teams across the board.

DECA
2011 OzHPV Challenge & Six Hour Enduro (Victoria)

The Challenge welcomes riders of all ages to compete in a variety of events which aim to establish the most practical human powered vehicle (any bike or trike, faired or unfaired, upright or recumbent which passes basic safety rules) by totalling points in a variety of races.

Events include:

  • a shopping race,
  • slalom,
  • short sprint (Go to Whoa),
  • 1km time trial,
  • Road race, and
  • 200m sprint.

The six hour enduro is open to teams of riders competing under United Pedal Prix rules (1 vehicle per team) and to teams of riders on individual vehicles in the Open category. It’s a perfect time for Pedal Prix teams to shake down a new vehicle or educate some new riders.

Tassie celebrates the 7th Anniversary of their Human Powered Vehicle 6-Hour endurance trial around Hobart’s famous waterfront!

Event details:

  • RACV event rules and vehicle specifications, but no need for lights.
  • Scrutineering will take place at Rosny College - Saturday 30th April. Alternatively, vehicles which have been scrutineered at an earlier 2011 event, there is an option for Scrutineering on the day, prior to practice.
  • A flat concrete track.
  • Compete for the prize in the fastest lap for all divisions in the ‘High Noon Fastest Lap’, lots of other prizes and trophies!
  • Each team entry will be in the draw for a new mountain bike!
  • 24 teams entered the event in 2010 organisers are expecting 30 plus teams for 2011.
  • Note: Each rider pays $5 to cover CAMS insurance for the day, with a CAMS Marshal on site for the race day!

Human powered vehicles, Australia's first miniature solar trains, solar boats and cars, CO2 dragsters and even a miniature F1-11 rocket powered by carbon dioxide are all part of the RACQ Technology Challenge.

The HPV teams race around a 1.4 km street circuit which also hosts a road cycling criterium during the weekend.

As a lead up event to the 2011 RACV Energy Breakthrough in Maryborough, Cobden Technical School are conducting a 6-hour trial for Hybrid, Energy Efficient Vehicle Teams, Human Powered Vehicle - Primary and Secondary – teams.

This will be a fun test'n'tune day for all schools preparing an entry for this year's RACV Energy Breakthrough.
In a relaxed atmosphere, teams will be welcome to practice their cornering, pit stops and vehicle handling on a state-standard go-kart track. (View full information page)

The RACV Energy Breakthrough began in 1991 and is a joint initiative of the County Education Project, The RACV and the Central Goldfields Shire Council. It encourages an across-the-curriculum approach to improving the environment and transport through the judging of Display & Presentation and Design & Construction.
Categories include: Pushcarts, Human Powered Vehicles, Innovations in Technology, Energy Efficient Vehicles and a three-event HPV race called the Try-athlon.
